U2 Paintings for Sale – Achtoon Baby Art from @U2

I began illustrating and writing the Achtoon Baby cartoons for @U2 back in December 2002, when the site’s staff selected me to be @U2′s cartoonist following a talent search. I truly had no idea what I was getting myself into! What began as a once-a-month single panel cartoon about U2 quickly evolved into multi-page watercolor epics about the band. My cat even got involved. It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun, and I received an incredible amount of praise whenever I posted a new cartoon. After seven years, I decided that I could no longer devote untold hours to painting the same four men over and over again and was left with a file cabinet full of little U2 paintings. I’m happy to sell them to anyone who wants them now!

Lots of tricky things are going on here, but the glasses and stubble were the most taxing. He even has two colors of stubble, which I painted using a drybrush technique over pre-painted skin. Every time I had to deal with things like this, I always muttered, "Shave, B. Why can't you just shave?"

It's my Li'l U2 tribute to the beloved Charlie Brown Chrismas cartoon. Fun bright colors and ink details. It's kind of alarming how easy it was to turn Bono into Charlie Brown.

Zoo-era Bono smirking, smoking, and enjoying his plush life in the south of France (probably). I had a good time painting the playfully loose vegetation and purple flowers in the background. You know, maybe this painting would work better in your rec-room than your office, unless rampant jealousy isn't a problem for you.
